Meet Our 2018 Executive Team

Arushi Kumar,

“Hello! My name is Arushi and I am a third-year student at Desautels Faculty of Management, studying Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship. I’m very excited to learn about some impactful, inspiring and important ideas at TEDx this year! A highly relevant and insightful TED talk I recommend is “The Danger of a Single Story” by Chimamanda Adichie, on cultural understanding and the importance of authentic opinion.”

Juhi Shah,

“Hi there! My name is Juhi and I'm a U2 student majoring in pharmacology at McGill. For this year's conference, I'm looking forward to finding out more about the creativity and invention that surrounds developing fields and how we can contribute to that development. One of my favourite TED talks of all time is "The Skill of Self Confidence" by Dr. Ivan Joseph at TedxRyersonU - he does an incredible job of simplifying a concept that sometimes seems out of reach in our minds. Looking forward to meeting you all very soon!”

Sooji Hah,

Director of Communications

“Hi everyone! My name is Sooji and I'm a third-year McGill student studying Labour Relations and Management. I'm so excited to be apart of the TEDxMcGill team this year and see how the stories of our speakers inspire our attendees this year. I look forward to seeing all of you there this year!”

Alex Tchurukdichian,

Director of Finance

“My name is Alexandre Tchurukdichian and I am a third-year student at the Desautels Faculty of Management studying Finance and International Business. By joining the Executive Team of TEDxMcGill, I am looking forward to sharing my passion for TEDx conferences with other students and learning new topics from various areas. I highly recommend watching Idriss Aberkane’s TED Talk called “Le CV de la Nature”. For twenty minutes, the Stanford teacher draws up the fabulous curriculum vitae of Nature through the notions of biomimicry and knowledge-based economy.”

Harold Şentürk,

Director of Sponsorship

“Hi! I’m Harold, but everyone calls me Harry, but most importantly you can call me VP Sponsorship. I’m in charge of acquiring the funds that will make our conference come alive! I was born in England but I grew up in Istanbul, which has granted me a unique multicultural world perspective. I have travelled all over the world from Malaysia to Canada, and with this passion for understanding the world I study Political Science and International Development. I look forward to this amazing conference, see you all there!”

Partha Patel,

Director of Volunteers

“Hello Everyone! I'm Partha and I'm studying Neuroscience. Currently in my U2 year, I look forward to working with our volunteer team to ensure our event this year is one we will not forget! Aside from school, I enjoy playing hockey and learning Spanish/Hindi. My favourite TED Talk was by Naja Ferjan Ramirez who spoke about growing up bilingual and the code switching that occurs between individuals who speak 2 languages; this is something I grew up with - English and Gujarati were spoken at my home interchangeably. If you have any questions, reach out. I look forward to seeing y'all at TedXMcGill 2018!”

Gaurav Karna,

Director of Speakers

“Hello Everyone! It is my pleasure to be your Director of Speakers and Talent for TEDxMcGill 2018! This year, I'm looking forward to pushing the envelope in regards to our theme - 'Climbing Ladders', and hearing the array of interpretations across the several backgrounds present in McGill and our community! My favorite TED talk is 'Thoughts on Humanity, Fame, and Love' by the renowned Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan because it is one of the few chances we get to know his mind and personality aside from the film screens. He speaks from the heart, and it is truly captivating. I look forward to seeing you all at TEDxMcGill 2018!”
